Relationship, Anxiety and Depression Therapy for Teens and Adults

Life is hard enough

Life is filled with unavoidable pressures of finances, careers, household responsibilities, and kids. Then there are the “should”s and aspirations to exercise, eat healthy, spend time with loved ones or your relationships are so strained that’s only making everything harder. Things didn’t turn out how you expected or hoped. Do you feel depressed, anxious, hopeless? Are you wondering “Is this it?” and questioning if change is even possible since there is SO MUCH TO DEAL WITH? You fret what is the best use of time and resources to find more happiness in your life.

You’ve tried therapy before and it didn’t work. With our goal setting roadmap and brief therapies intermingled with deep work, it often doesn’t take as much as people think it will to make great progress. With our therapeutic styles, our clients don’t have to wait to feel some relief. We know people come in ready to feel better, so our goal is that you leave with insights and tools as early as the first and second sessions. We hope you check out our website and let us know if you have any questions so that you can get a sense if we are a good fit for you. If you are in a place where you have been putting this off and you need to just jump in, contact us and we will make getting started easy. Come as few or many sessions as you would like and you should know after a session or two if you are getting what you need. We hope you allow us to be your guide and walk with you!

We care about you, your relationships, your emotional health.

Our Services

  • Adults

Does it feel too hard sometimes? Whatever you try doesn’t seem to work out? Is this how life turned out and is going to be for the rest of your life? Disappointments, frustration, anxiety, depression or anger? We can help you navigate through the feelings, come up with measurable goals, and provide tools so that you can come out the other side living a more peaceful, joyful, fulfilled, life.

  • Couples

In the beginning you couldn’t wait to be together. It was so easy. Now, you are afraid to say anything in fear of a fight. You feel like you’re pulling all the weight, there is distance, dishonesty, devastation of unfaithfulness? Most people weren’t taught how to have a healthy relationship. We can help you enhance your communication, build on the relationship, repair, have more intimacy and more!

  • Teens and Pre-Teens

Raging hormones, emotional rollercoasters, academic and social pressures. Teens often feel alone and like no one understands them. It’s age appropriate to start pulling away from parents and if teens don’t have a healthy person to talk with they may look in the wrong places. We’d love to help you and your kiddo not just get through teen years, but thrive. Bravo for giving them the gift of therapy!

  • Walk-and-Talk Therapy

Spending too much time indoors? Don’t have time for exercise and therapy? Studies have shown that exposure to nature can help people's recall, stress, ADHD symptoms, development of social skills, success in school, mood, and more. We have many locations; whether a park, a mountain, or your backyard. With walk and talk therapy you can made strides more quickly.

  • In-Home Sessions

Illness or disability and takes too much out of you to drive? No child care or time but need to get some help? Teen stuck isolating in the house ever since Covid? Maybe they’ll open up while shooting hoops. Anxiety or depression making it hard to make an appointment or leave the house? It’s hard enough for most folks to make the 1st phone call. No worries. We’ll come to you!

  • Immigration Evaluation

We evaluate and write supplemental reports for various types of waivers of extreme hardship to the applicant or qualifying relative(s) such as I-601, U-Visas, cancellation of removal, and VAWA. We write reports that are very thorough, case specific, and typically are between 8-15 pages but also easy to read for the agencies considering the waivers who we realize have limited time.

This is what we are here for. You are not alone!

FAQs

  • We use evidence based treatmenet methods. Although results cannot be guaranteed we will be checking with you on a regular basis and will be reviewing goals to see if you are making the progress you hope to make.

  • We understand that taking the steps to start therapy can be hard enough, no matter also considering a modality that seems different than “traditional” in office therapy. Take the time to read through our pages on telehealth and walk and talk therapy or give us a call, email, or text us directly so that we can talk about some of the pluses and minuses of each modality for your unique situation. We're more than glad to talk with you to help you decide. No matter what, you are not locked in to one modality and if you are unsure you can just try a session or two. With our styles of therapy you should be able to tell within 1 or 2 sessions if you are getting what you need. Our goal is that you get much out of each session no matter the modality!

  • Most people come for 10-20 or so sessions to meet their goals, however some people just have something that can be handled in one or a few sessions and some want to dive deep and work on past traumas that may go back to childhood or past relationships, and stay with us longer term. We continue to reassess where you are at in your progress and work with you to see where you want to end up.

At the end of each session we decide together when would make most sense to book the next session. We have found that in many situations it’s nice to come weekly for a few sessions and then when there are enough tools starting to be gained, every other week may make sense. People are often relieved to start making headway in the beginning and it’s great when people can book some weekly sessions to not go back to “old habits” and instead start creating change and a new “new.” If you can’t swing it financially or due to schedule no problem. It’s important to take that into account as well so that we’re not adding extra stressors. We are flexible, always with your end goals in mind.

  • We do not accept insurance, however we offer superbills if requested for clients with out of network benefits. If you have a PPO plan you may qualify to receive some reimbursement.

  • Some people prefer to speak to a female or a male, so that makes that easy, but some people aren’t sure. It can be helpful to have a female or male perspective in some cases and in other cases we often work together if desired (for example Kim may see a couple while Matt sees the individuals within the couple), so that you have a broader perspective, more flexibility and availability, and easy coordination of care since we are in the same practice. We tend to find that teen boys jive very well with Matt and we each have areas that we are extra great at. We also have different availability and for some types of sessions, different fees. You can also start with one of us and easily transition the paperwork to the other person without having to retell your entire story. Give us a call and we can help guide you to who might be a better fit!

If you prefer Spanish, Kim is bilingual.

  • We have some “request a session” boxes where you can contact us and we will get back to you or you can feel free to text, call, or email Kim or Matt directly. Visit our contact us page here. We usually take 24-48 hours to get back to you but usually will reply within hours if you text us.

  • It could be that you were less motivated or that your therapist wasn’t the best fit. Maybe you did make some changes and they didn’t stick or you may be farther along than you were at the time and it’s hard to remember back to before your started therapy. We do measurable treatment plans so that we can see your baseline and as you improve we can look back to see your progress and where there may be gaps. Sometimes people drop out of therapy prematurely thinking things feel so much better than before and if we review your goals together we can identify if there are things that still need to be worked through before moving on from therapy. With our tracking system we are able to see your progress together with you so that you can see that it’s working. We talk about how to sustain the changes. We’d like to help you. We’re glad you’re reconsidering counseling, with us as your guide.

  • People are starting to see that therapy is a basic part of health just as is physical health. Going to therapy used to stigmatized and still can be, but when it comes down to it, we’re all human and we all know that no one’s perfect. It takes a humble person to seek out therapy. Humility is a strength and too much pride and inability to look at ourselves deeply doesn’t get us anywhere but stuck, dealing with the same problems over and over, often times not just affecting us both those we love. We all need each other. It’s better to not suffer in silence.
